Packing Tips:

Office

Before You Begin:

Use the proper packing materials. It will pay off in the long run! Sturdy boxes, packing tape, bubble wrap and packing peanuts can all be purchased at Storage Facilities, Home Depot, Staples and other shipping companies in your area. Other great types of reasonably priced padding for your boxes include wadded up newspaper, old pillows and blankets.

The following is a list of tools & materials to make your packing go more smoothly:

-Razor Knife and/or Scissors

-Note Pad

-Permanent Marker

-Boxes of all size (Medium Home Depot Size Box is average)

-Packing Tape

-Bubble Wrap

-Packing Peanuts

Desk Drawers and Cupboards

If you are like anyone else, your office is where you keep everything you need so neat and tidy and...well, who are we kidding? You're looking at your office right now, thinking "where do we even start?"

Drawers! Go through your drawers and decide what you need and what you haven't seen in a few years that suddenly pops up. Paperwork can be packed into files, and that into filing boxes.

Printers can be a little harder to pack, though if you have a box for it, perfect! If not, please just place it in a box it'll fit in (open or not) and we can take it from there. Please note that if moving long distance, it is best if you are able to take computers, printers and other things that won't fit in a box yourself.

Filing Cabinets (2 and 4 Drawer)

Filing cabinets can be tricky, though filing boxes are the simplest solution! Filing boxes can often be found at Staples, Home Depot, and many other storage-like places that sell moving supplies. Each town is a little different, and has different stores, so check around and see what you can find.

As a quick tip: Often once people move, they are looking at ways to get rid of said boxes. So check local listings on Facebook Marketplace, Kijiji, or other sites like that to see if you can find used. It will save money in the long run.

Books, Books, Books

Book boxes will always be about 40-50lbs by the time it's fully packed, though they don't always have to be that heavy! We often say, "If you can't lift the box, we probably don't want to either." So if you find the box of books too heavy, feel free to fill a Medium Size Home Depot Box half full and add a pillow or something soft to add cushion for the books. That way, the box is lighter and you've packed away another item you won't need for a while.

All other Office Inquiries

Every office is different of course. Whether you have bookshelves, or desks, dining tables or any flat surface to be used as your desk. If it can be taken apart (such as a desk or bookshelf), we'll likely need it taken apart for move day. We can definitely do so, however it will save you money if you do it yourself.
